Santa Clara, Family Vacation Ideas – A Mystery House, Tech Space, and Snoopy. San Francisco’s South Bay area is a family friendly, easy paced area where families can share time without long lines and schedules.

Explore the house that never ends. Why not share something quirky with your kids? The story of Winchester House is a bit bizarre and the house matches the story. Winchester Mystery House was imagined and built by Sarah Winchester heiress to the Winchester Repeating Rifle fortune. She was a turn-of-the-20th-century woman who believed in spirits. Her mansion in Santa Clara became a building project of unprecedented proportions, with stairs that led nowhere, secret passages, and a séance room. Wait for it! Each fall this is the location of Winchester Mystery House®‘Fright Nights’ complete with a 40-minute spine-chilling maze plus a ‘Flashlight Tour’ with shock appeal. (525 S Winchester Blvd. San Jose, CA 95128. (408) 247-2101 or www.winchestermysteryhouse.com)

The amusement complex features KidZville with 18 rides and attractions for parents and kids to enjoy together as well as thrilling rides - Flight Deck and Vortex. Family rides include Carousel Columbia and Barney Oldfield Speedway perfect for sharing with young ones. The complex also showcases Broadway-style live entertainment ideals for all generations. The park is open from April through the end of October each year. (4701 Great America Pkwy, Santa Clara, CA 95054. (408) 986-5866 or www.cagreatamerica.com)
